Aage Nikal Rahe Hain Hum…
In 1960 they registered with the BSE. By 1966, they became the largest producer of two-wheelers in India. Almost a monopoly, the waiting list for Bajaj scooters averaged 10 years. And then there was Hero Honda with its innovative, fuel-efficient, chic bikes. The market began to shift to motor bikes and Bajaj was a wee bit slower to react. But Better late than never: Pulsar happened.
From an uninspired scooter manufacturer to the best selling motorcycle maker in the country, Bajaj has come a long way. Their latest launch Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi**is THE hottest thing in the market. This one’s definitely male!!
And we are back to Humara bajaj again. Naye Bharat ki nayi Raftaaar…
Check out bajaj-

Whats this? Are you advertising for Bajaj??
@ Vikram: If I like Tom Cruise and write about him in my blog, that does NOT mean I am advertising for him. Just so you know.
This one's just fallen below par...it merely resembles a newspaper article.
After seeing your previous posts, one would naturally expect something better than this...Ok! Bajaj registered with the BSE in 1960, so what??
Instead of writing a blog for this, you could have just given the URL for Bajaj, it would have more facts.
If you havent advertised for Bajaj, then what have you done? Read news??
Nice article..."From an uninspired scooter manufacturer to the best selling motorcycle maker in the country"...Was great to see Bajaj come back with the "Hamara Bajaj" theme...Am a proud pulsar owner myself...Love the new ad...
hi..A lady mechanical engineer?
thats cool
nice post...u cud have made it more intresting if the videos played right in the browser..rathaer than having it as a seprate link.
good work :)0
nice little blog. the new ad on TV did make me feel nostalgic ! And thanks for the link to the classical ad :D
First of all I never saw u in a 2 wheeler(lol) n abod bajaj cmon yaar there is no doubt hero honda is the undisputed market leader(approx 50% market share)..."Aaage Nikal Rah hain hum.."I doubt it n doubt it big time...only Pulsar clicked 4 bajaj...they need more...Hero Honda is the brand..The king in Indian market...So substantiate ur argument...
@Binish: I am glad you visited my blog and thanks for the insightful comment. Let me take this one by one.
1. You never spotted me on a bike does not mean I never sat on one.
2. "From an uninspired scooter manufacturer to the best selling motorcycle maker in the country" I have referred to Bajaj as the best selling motorcycle (read: Pulsar)maker in the country and NOT the market leader.
3. "And then there was Hero Honda with its innovative, fuel-efficient, chic bikes. The market began to shift to motor bikes and Bajaj was a wee bit slower to react. But Better late than never: Pulsar happened." I have agreed that Hero Honda has been the market leader. You are right when you say that. But I have never made an argument out of that, Have I?
4. "From an uninspired scooter manufacturer to the best selling motorcycle maker in the country, Bajaj has come a long way." I am not pro Bajaj or Hero Honda for that matter. Saw the new ad, liked it 'coz it reminded me of their earlier one. It was interesting to know how Bajaj turned the wheel with Pulsar which sold like hot cakes and did give Hero Honda a run for its money.
Let me know if you have any other doubts ;)
Thanks Snigdha for making things more clear but.......
First thing:I didnt say u never sat on a bike..did I?
The concept of bikes came into India way back in 1956 from Enfield India Lmt(correct me if am wrong)..Till early 90s bajaj was the market leader in 2 wheelers segment only because of the scooters..then how cum u can refer 2 them as"uninspired scooter manufacturer"...agree they were not able to predict the market n lost 2 hero honda.
My argument is ""Aage Nikal Rahe Hain Hum..."...I cant c dat cuming in near future 4 bajaj...dat is wut I said..4 Pulsar its growth stage is over....n bajaj is not cuming up with something innovative...
n ya I am pro hero honda-)
@Binish:
1. I never said that you said I never sat on a bike, Did I? ;)
2. So now you think Bajaj is not an uninspired scooter manufacturer? Okay. “Till early 90s bajaj was the market leader in 2 wheelers segment only because of the scooters”- Being a market leader does not mean they were innovative and proactive. Bajaj, like I pointed out earlier was almost a monolpoly because foreign players were not allowed in India, which gave them little incentive to remodel or innovate. Only when they were faced with competition, did they feel the need for the same.
3. I wouldn’t say growth stage is over for Pulsar or that they are not coming up with anything innovative. Rahul Bajaj does not ask me before taking decisions so I’d rather not speculate.
4. I really appreciate your comments. I am trying to answer them in the best possible way. Hope you don’t take my replies otherwise.
1.So the first point is clear.
2.I cann't call a company uninspired scooter manufacturer when it has dominated this segment for almost 25 years,I agree it lost out because it didnt innovate and ur point of bajaj being the monopoly is perfect.
3.Pulsar was launched in 2001 and every year they are adding some new features on the existing product(like DTSi,alloy wheels,LCD screen, pilot lamps etc.) but not coming out with successful new products(actually they are playing it safe),so its tuf to b on top with a single successful product, so that was my point.
4.About Rahul Bajaj, he is a close friend of mine;)
5.Cmon yaar,y shud I take ur replies otherwise and frankly your reasoning skills are good.
6.I hope things are clear, n ya just a reminder...hp u r playin chess..it helps -;)
@Binish: I hear the last point- Loud and Clear ;) you are so gonna get it from me one day!!
